Australia Project Case | Custom 5K15 Stainless Steel Female Threaded Flange with 1″ BSP Thread

An Australian valve manufacturer ordered a batch of 5K15 stainless steel female threaded flanges for valve assemblies used in local water and industrial piping systems. The flanges were manufactured to the JIS 5K pressure rating with 1″ BSP female threads, matching the customer’s engineering drawings and Australian installation requirements.

Customer Requirements

The customer supplied detailed engineering drawings before production. Every dimension, thread specification and pressure rating had to match the local piping standard used in Australia.

The order required:

  • 5K15 slip-on flange with an integrated 1″ BSP female thread
  • Complete dimensional inspection records covering outside diameter, bolt circle, bolt holes, threaded bore and flange thickness
  • Mirror-polished stainless steel surface without scratches, rust, burrs or machining defects
  • Smooth internal threads to ensure reliable sealing during valve installation
  • Individual protective packaging suitable for long-distance sea freight
  • English packing lists packed with every carton for customs clearance and warehouse receiving

Production did not begin until all drawings and technical specifications had been reviewed and confirmed by both parties.

Drawing Confirmation and Dimensional Inspection

Our engineering team reviewed the customer’s drawings together with the CNC workshop before machining started. Two rounds of drawing verification were completed to eliminate dimensional discrepancies before production.

After machining, every flange was measured with calibrated digital calipers, and the inspection records were retained for quality traceability.

Measured dimensions:

  • Outside diameter: 80.24 mm
  • Bolt circle diameter (PCD): 60.08 mm
  • 1″ BSP female thread inside diameter: 38.08 mm
  • Bolt hole diameter: 12.06 mm
  • Overall flange thickness: 13.24 mm
  • Flange plate thickness: 8.36 mm

The finished dimensions complied with the customer’s specified machining tolerance—precision thread rolling produced accurate BSP threads with smooth engagement and dependable sealing performance.

Manufacturing Process

The flange body was machined on CNC lathes, followed by precision rolling of the BSP female thread. Multiple polishing operations produced a mirror surface finish with improved corrosion resistance for marine transportation.

Before packaging, the QC team inspected every finished flange for dimensions, surface quality and thread condition. Random samples also underwent threaded water-sealing tests to verify sealing performance before shipment.

Inspection photographs and production updates were provided throughout manufacturing so the customer could monitor progress without waiting for final delivery.

Export Packing

The shipment was prepared for long-distance ocean transportation from China to Australia. Every flange was wrapped individually with stretch film to isolate moisture and prevent scratches during handling and shipping.

The products were arranged inside export cartons with sufficient spacing between flanges to reduce movement during transport. After packing, each carton was sealed with protective stretch film and marked with the product model and quantity for easy identification.

An English Packing List was included in every carton, showing the product description, quantity, gross weight and carton dimensions for Australian customs clearance. Before dispatch, the customer received a complete set of shipping documents, including:

  • Packing photographs
  • Dimensional inspection photographs
  • English Packing List
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Material Certificate
  • Other export documents required for customs clearance

Customer Feedback

During on-site inspection, the customer confirmed that the flange dimensions matched the approved drawings, and the 1″ BSP female threads assembled correctly without leakage or thread damage.

The mirror-polished finish remained intact after sea transportation, with no signs of rust, impact damage or surface scratches. All shipping documents, inspection records and material certificates met the customer’s import requirements, allowing the goods to enter service immediately.

Following the successful completion of this order, the customer began placing repeat orders for stainless steel threaded flanges used in valve assembly projects for the Australian market.
